Flavours of Singapore Walking Food Tour

Food and Culture Experience

Duration: 8 Hours

What is provided? Breakfast and Dinner

Language: English

Highlights:

This tour features some of Singapore's unique, cultural and historical hotspots where you will experience the local way of living. The trail will start at Keong Siak Road, a one-way street lined with shophouses and a peek into the sleazy past that used to reside in this street. A quintessential Singaporean breakfast will be served - that is kaya (coconut spread) toast slurped down with a finely-cooked plate of soft-boiled eggs at one of our favourite coffee shops in Singapore. Trust us, nothing is better than old school breakfast in this town! The tour will then move to the center of Chinatown where we will sample some of Singapore's finest delights and cultural delicacies while taking in the rich Chinese traditions of the city. Here you will savour the popular desserts of Singapore like Almond Paste, Ice Kachang, Chendol and the famous egg tarts from one of Singapore's longest-standing confectionaries. Whilst in the South-east Asian region, it is impossible to miss out on the hawker centre culture especially prevalent in all corners of the little red dot. Lunch will be enjoyed at a popular hawker centre in the district, where we will share Michellin-rated street fares alongside some of our local favourites like Chicken Rice, Century-egg Porridge, Oyster Cakes and Sweet Dough Fritters. As a multi-racial and cultural island, no trip is complete without a visit to Little India (Tekka Market as we know it). Dive into the vibrant colours or deck yourself with flower garlands and saris from the ever-welcoming shopkeepers in the twin-stories shophouses. Take a breather with teh tarik (pulled tea) and slather some roti prata (Indian pancakes) in curry or have them au naturale. After shopping at one of the largest and unique departmental store in all of Singapore, meander through the crowd to a hole-in-the-wall dimsum eatery, where we will sit, talk shop and provide recommendations and travel tips for the rest of your time in Singapore before bidding our adieus.
